How to Water your Lawn like a Pro

It is summer time in the Pacific Northwest and that means it is time to head outside to enjoy the beauty of the area. For many of us, summer is a chance to head to the backyard and enjoy an aspect of the home that does not get to be utilized during the winter months. For some, that may mean playing with the kids in the pool, or setting up a volleyball net. For others, it’s a chance to work on your barbeque skills. At SprayLawn we value the importance of a quality yard and know that it can play a vital part in your family and be a place to make memories. With that in mind here is our list of what to know when it comes to watering your lawn this summer.

What is the best time to water?
The best time to water your lawn is between 6:00 and 10:00 am. You want to be sure to water early in the day before the heat causes evaporation and the wind blows the water off the lawn. Be sure to avoid watering at night as this can cause fungus growth in the grass.

How often should you water?
When you water your lawn you want to shoot for twice a week. You can switch up the days you decide to water if you choose, that way your lawn will become stronger by not knowing when it will receive water next.

What is the best method of watering?
While the most costly, the best way to water your lawn is with a built in sprinkler system. This ensures that you are watering consistently and evenly. If you do not have a built in sprinkler system, a pulsating revolving sprinkler is a good alternative for an established lawn. This keeps the water close to the grass and prevents evaporation. For newer lawns, an oscillating sprinkler is a better option because of its gentle distribution.
